Here is why it's wrong and how it's right: REASONING ========= "Because" answers are given to "why" questions: Q: "Why are you crying?" A: "Because I am sad." Q: "Why aren't you working?" A: "Because I am lazy." To "what is" questions we give "it is" answers: Q: "What is that sound?" A: "That sound is just some noise." Q: "You're not working. What is the reason?" A: "The reason is my laziness." or "The reason is that I am lazy." The last sentence shows the correct form of the sentence that starts with "The reason is". SO HOW TO SAY IT PROPERLY? ========================== Instead of: "The reason he cries is because he is sad." <-- WRONG say: "The reason he cries is that he is sad." <-- CORRECT or: "He cries because he is sad." <-- CORRECT
